The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is finally here. And it has been taking the gaming world by storm. The avid fans have started dissecting and creating new inventions in the game. The addition of new powers for Link was the prime reason for the players showing their creative side.
Moreover, the players are exploring the vast lands of Hyrule and fighting evil constructs, too. However, there are many useful secrets and Easter Eggs that go unnoticed by many fans at first glance. And below are the top ten groundbreaking secrets and Easter Eggs that make the game even more beautiful.
10. A subtle nod to Breath of the Wild

Tears of the Kingdom did not forget to mention its predecessor, Breath of the Wild in the new Hyrule. With a few years passing in-game, the location of the Temple of Time, where Link found his paraglider, has now changed. While it was located on the ground in BOTW, the sequel moved it up toward the sky. But the players can still visit the ruins of the Temple on the ground location.
When players visit the Temple of Time Ruins in TOTK, they can unlock a chest and get a reward. This reward subtly nods toward the fabric in the prequel’s paraglider and gives players a Nostalgic Fabric.
9. Gerudo Town and Link’s need for clothes
Gerudo Town has been affected even more than the Temple of Time. The whole civilization moved underground and cut themselves off from the outside world. Even Link is not allowed through the main entrance at first for being a male. However, players can sneak through a well and land right in the center of the area.
However, to still explore the region, Link should always be fully clothed. Failing to do so will first lead to him being kicked out of the area or, worse, getting into jail. Even in Hyrule, if Link is found roaming around naked, NPCs have some quippy comments about Link’s fashion choices.
8. References to old Zelda titles
The new title is filled with references for the old Zelda titles. When visiting the arena where Link fought Calamity Ganon in BOTW, fans can light up the fires in the place to gain access to Champion’s Leathers.
In the village, the bottles of milk contain the reference for Lon Lon Ranch from Ocarina of Time. And their stables are also functioning to date in TOTK, keeping Link’s horses safe.
7. No messing with chickens in Zelda titles
Although horses are safe in the stables, Link himself needs protection from a certain species. The chickens being the most vicious species in Zelda is no new fact. Continuing on the tradition, the new Zelda title has chickens dropping eggs and attacking Link in hordes.
6. Ultrahard and Ascend abilities
While these two abilities are being loved by the fans, they were not originally for the TOTK. Ultrahand took inspiration from a toy manufactured earlier by Nintendo. And Ascend was actually a debugging feature!
As shocking as it may sound, Ascend was not going to be added to the game earlier. But the development team had a lot of fun messing around with this feature that they wished to share with fans too.
5. Zora’s domain and champions
Another place that changed its looks was Zora’s domain. In the prequel, the town square had the statue of Mipha as their champion, but a new champion has arrived in TOTK. After cleaning the sludge off the statue of the main square, it is revealed to be Link’s ally, King Sidon.
4. Dog leads to a treasure chest
A thing that crushed many fans was the fact that they cannot pet a dog in TOTK. Although many animal lovers in Hyrule are using their powers and inventing mechanisms to pet the dog, the four-legged friend has a different purpose altogether.
Feeding the dog well enough will trigger him to start walking away from you. But players should not be discouraged and start following the dog, which will eventually lead to them getting a rare chest.
3. New Champions follow Link around in the new Zelda title
Many players would have since noticed the avatars that keep following Link on his adventures. One fun tidbit about them is when Link equips the right Divine Beast masks, the avatars notice it and wear the same as well. The only condition being it has to be their regional beast.
2. The Ultrahard feature’s problem and how to solve it
Although Ultrahand is a useful feature, it does not properly work with alignment. TOTK players are spending an eternity trying to rotate and properly align the things using Ultrahand. But it can all go away with a push of a button.
When using the ability on an object, simply press the ZL button and the object will flatten instantly on the x-axis.
1. Link’s house and construction crew help with it
Interacting with the construction company’s Granteson gives Link what many players desire. The company sells pre-built rooms which can be bought and arranged to look like Link’s dream house.
