A Zelda fan recently shared a picture on Reddit and claimed to spot something new in the upcoming Tears of the Kingdom. In the picture, the game’s protagonist Link was probably jumping from one of the floating islands. But from the view in the sky, the fan spotted a whirlpool on the side of Lake Hylia.

The fan raised the question of what the purpose of that whirlpool is. Is it a consequence of the malice going wild across Hyrule, or is it a gateway to a cave or a quest? In the older games, Lake Hylia often acted as a doorway to water temples or other underwater explorations.

So far, the trailers and developers have only mentioned the exploration in the sky. Almost every trailer showcased Link jumping from a floating island or going to it. Recently, Tear of the Kingdom’s official site revealed Link will even begin his journey in this game from the floating islands.

Everyone knows that those islands in the sky will be important, and players may have to visit them frequently. However, none of the trailers mentioned a water temple or Link diving underwater. So it’s uncertain if there will be any quests involving that whirlpool.

Fans also notice malice holes instead of a shrine

This interesting Reddit post grabbed a lot of attention from the fans. However, many failed to notice the whirlpool that the Redditor wanted everyone to see. Instead, they noticed something more interesting. They spotted malice holes where Breath of the Wild had shrines.
