The deal between Activision and Xbox is the only thing being discussed in the gaming community right now. And it’s for a good reason. After all, it was one of the biggest announcements of 2022. However, this announcement has started to fuel the usual console war between Xbox and PlayStation. The deal is so monumental that it could affect the future of gaming as well as franchises like Call of Duty.
However, Phil Spencer revealed that Call of Duty isn’t going to be an Xbox exclusive upon the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. He also highlighted the point that PlayStation is an important part of the gaming community and he wants to have a good relationship with PlayStation.
Still, that doesn’t mean that there will be no changes at all.

Had good calls this week with leaders at Sony. I confirmed our intent to honor all existing agreements upon acquisition of Activision Blizzard and our desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation. Sony is an important part of our industry, and we value our relationship.

Popular YouTuber on the future of the Call of Duty franchise: is this the end of yearly releases?
Naturally, these theories have been creating a lot of chaos in the gaming community. Popular streamers and content creators are talking about it in their streams. However, recently, a popular YouTuber, FaZe Jev, talked about the future of Call of Duty with regard to this acquisition.
According to FaZe Jev, the future of Call of Duty is Warzone and ultimately Warzone will become the next big thing.
With this in mind, FaZe Jev also highlighted the point that there will be fewer resources for the multiplayer side of the game, mainly because of its limited popularity.
He said, “The thing that I was getting at in my head, this might be the death of multiplayer Call of Duty or it could be completely reborn. I…I…I don’t know, I have this idea in my head that multiplayer itself, I don’t think Call of Duty really ever gets sold for its multiplayer experience besides warzone at this point. It feels like everything is buffer for Warzone, and we’re thinking right now, it’s basically going to work like this.”

FaZe Jev carries on, “We’re going to get Modern Warfare 2, which is supposed to revitalize the whole series or whatever, especially after, you know, Vanguard and stuff with their sale numbers. Boom! Modern Warfare 2 comes out, it’s got the Modern Warfare name on it and everything. It’s definitely going to sell, at least much better than this.”
