Nintendo Switch OLED, launched in October 2021, was Nintendo’s attempt to keep the interest of the public alive in their outdated consoles. With thinner bezels and a larger screen equipped with OLED instead of the LCD screen of the 2017 Nintendo Switch, this console was received positively.
Now as the Switch 2 is closing its rumored release soon, Switch OLED is also feeling outdated. But, a YouTuber’s attempt to revamp the Switch OLED is getting the attention of fans.

YouTuber Austin Evans set out to transform his Switch OLED into the ultimate gaming hardware. He started this off by removing the 64 GB storage space inside Switch and replacing it with a 1 TB microSD card. He also took a jab at Nintendo, saying he doesn’t buy digital copies from Nintendo Online cause Nintendo will make the store disappear once they discontinue the Switch. Evans was implying the recent closure of the 3DS and Wii U online shop.
Evans then went on to replace the Switch case with ExtremeRate clear OLED case. Next up on his list was solving the problem of drift issues in Joy-Cons, second only to their small size. He replaces the stock joystick of Joy-Cons with hall-sensing joysticks. Hall-sensing joysticks use magnets to move rather than the pressure-point system, making them more durable.

The Ultimate Nintendo Switch Controller!
Joy-Cons are an incredibly portable and wireless piece of hardware. The drawback is they have batteries that need to be charged. Evans got a Joy-Cons charging case to solve this problem. Well, this gave rise to yet another problem. How to play with Switch OLED without Joy-Cons? Evans then bought a controller for Switch. They built the controller in a Game Boy style, but it did not fit on the Switch OLED.

Upgrading the console again, Evans used an HDMI upscaler for Switch OLED, which was being sold on GameStop as a Nintendo Switch graphic card. Evans then connected his Switch to an OLED TV screen using the HDMI upscaler and brought out a Switch controller to play. Going on a crazy streak, Evans brought out a Switch Gaming Station to connect his Switch to and play on a screen.
