On December 8, 2022, the video gaming community witnessed the unveiling of the year’s most prestigious event, The Game Awards 2022. Many games won the titles to cement their foundation in the community. More so, the Genshin Impact community celebrated winning the Players’ Voice award, but something seems to still pick the community.

Genshin Impact lives as one of the best gacha games in the community. Last year, the game won the Best Mobile Game award. However, the same year it did get nominated for Best Ongoing Game but lost the title to Final Fantasy XIV. Moreover, this time the community was utterly hyped to see the game getting nominated for three categories; Best Ongoing Game, Best Mobile Game, and Players’ Voice.
Notably, Genshin Impact bagged the Players’ Voice award. However, the game lost the remaining nominations. Marvel Snap won the Best Mobile Game Award, and Final Fantasy XIV defended its title as the Best Ongoing Game. Relating to this, OTK member and famous streamer Tectone displayed his unhappiness about the game losing the Best Mobile Game award.
Fans give their views around Genshin Impact losing the Best Mobile Game award at The Game Awards 2022
Tectone is a popular YouTuber and Twitch streamer. The personality is profusely famous for playing games like Among Us and Genshin Impact. Recently, he tweeted, “How did genshin lose mobile game of the year to marvel snap but WON players choice? How does that make any sense?”

While replying to his tweet, fans dropped their agreement while some displayed their reasoning for Genshin Impact losing the Best Mobile Game title. In support of Tectone’s thought, a Twitter user tweeted, “Yeah it was rigged. No way some new mobile game beat out genshin. Marvel Snap may be good, I don’t know, but it released officially in October. That’s two months before only. No way people had time to just crown it the best game.”
However, another user tweeted, “The better question is why genshin even qualified. Not a 2022 game. Only category it belonged in was best ongoing. The games also just bad. So even if it made sense to qualify, still glad it didn’t win.” Thus, mixed emotions and takes reverberated in the tweet thread. To give a clear view, here are the reactions to Tectone’s tweet:
There's been 9 of these game awards and people still think their votes actually make a difference for them, players choice is the only one that's 100% our voice pic.twitter.com/rk70STsGbd

Its simple, the fanbase wanted primogems to such a degree they won players choice, congrats on 5 pulls. pic.twitter.com/Z3f8fnp8Dw

Because players choice is the only truly 100% fan voted category the rest are 10% fan voted with the rest being decided by the panel. Genshin is not the new hotness while marvel snap is of course the panel is going to go for that one.

A lot of people only voted for the bigger categories thats the only thing i can think of. Or just bias from game awards

The judging panel didn’t vote vote for Genshin. I’m not annoyed that Genshin didn’t win. I’m annoyed they chose a game we all know none of them play over the game that won player’s choice by a landslide. If you didn’t play the games either vote with the fans or not at all

Honestly Players Choice makes sense since there really is tons of people playing. Personally I think Genshin shoulda won both but hey I’m sure Rich is happy Marvel Snap won 😂 He said he played it during yalls podcast

Marvel Snap was the best game in the category, so who cares lol.
Also Genshin didn't come out in 2022, I still don't know why it was even on the list

Mobile game of the year vote was comprised of 10% audience vote and remainder judges panel.
Players Choice award was based 100% on audience votes(admittedly after removing bot spam according to Geoff Keighley).
Never played either so can't tell if deserved ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Players choie is POPULARITY. Mobile game isn't, and marvel snap even though I haven't played it looks really good
— Stardust Sparkles (@stardust_reina) December 10, 2022
I mean that makes the most sense, it already won best mobile for 2 years continuously, this award is selected by the actual critics, doesn't matter how huge the fanbase is, but players choice literally is what it says, "PLAYERS CHOICE" and Im pretty sure GI has a large playerbase

Here’s an idea. Genshin isn’t actually that great

Because the player’s choice was LITERALLY only the player’s choice. It wasn’t decided by a jury

Given the reactions of the fans, it can be safely said that every person had an opinion of their own. Moreover, the prestigious award event is a weighted opportunity for games to receive accomplishments. Nevertheless, Genshin Impact flourished on getting the Players’ Voice award, which in itself becomes a remarkable achievement.
