How does PlayStation Plus compare with Xbox Game Pass now?
The new revamp in Sony’s PlayStation subscription service has now included games in three tiers. Along with this, users can now download and play while also having their PlayStation Now service integrated with the subscription.
PlayStation Plus Essential will be the first tier, and it will be identical to the present PlayStation Plus service. All the same perks apply just like the previous PlayStation Plus subscription, including two downloaded games each month, online multiplayer access, cloud saves, and discounts. The prices will stay the same at $10 per month, $25 per quarter, and $60 per year. This tier will be transferred to all existing PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Things start to become fascinating at the subsequent tiers. The next tier, known as PlayStation Plus Extra, includes all the features of PlayStation Plus Essential, as well as access to a catalog of up to 400 PS5 and PS4 games that may be downloaded and played at any time while the membership is ongoing. This contains both PlayStation Studios’ and third-party developer’s games.
The PlayStation Plus Extra tier costs $15 per month, $40 per quarter, and $100 per year.
Finally, PlayStation Plus Premium is the most expensive option available. This tier provides all the features of the Essential and Extra tiers, as well as an extra 340 games to the library. As of now, the Premium tier will also provide backward compatibility to PS3, PS2, PSP, and PS1 games as well. This can be accessed locally or through cloud service or streaming.
The Xbox Game Pass, on the other hand, provides access to multiple numbers of games including the ones from EA (using EA Play), Xbox Game Studios, and several other Blockbusters and Indie games, all available from DAY 1. Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision also has paved the way for many titles to arrive in the Game Pass.
Can this be Sony’s best way to level up with Microsoft?
