Weirdly, to the surprise of many Xbox users out there, they got no update on when Baldur’s Gate 3 would make it to their preferred consoles. No one knew that this absence was due to Microsoft’s mandate that every game coming to the Xbox One Series X needs to come to the Series S in a feature-perfect manner.

But Larian, the developer of Baldur’s Gate 3, was finding it pretty hard to make local co-op work on the much weaker Series S console. However, Microsoft was not allowing them to launch the game on the Series S without local co-op.

Recently, that changed, all thanks to Phil Spencer meeting the developers during the Gamescom conference and allowing them to make the required changes. This meant the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 was now open. A developer from Larian finally confirmed on X that the game would be available for Xbox consoles later this year.
