The competition among the top consoles, namely the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch is increasing every day. One of these three always manages to come out victorious at different intervals.

And this time, it’s the Xbox Series X|S, becoming the number selling console line-up in the UK. Not to mention that it outperformed arch-rivals, the Switch, and PlayStation 5.

Xbox Series X|S tops the UK sales chart for March 2022

As is already known, the global chip shortage has massively affected the supply of electronic devices. Smartphones, electronic vehicles, and other appliances have become a rarity, including video game consoles. Due to the ongoing situation, the platforms remain mostly out of stock. And it’s the same case for all three big consoles, the PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S.

Thankfully, Microsoft’s latest generation of gaming devices recently saw a much-needed restock. As a result of that, Xbox Series X|S emerged as the top-selling console in the region for March 2022, according to GamesIndustry.biz. It’s really commendable for the newest devices especially considering the current scenario regarding the unavailability of the semiconductor chip.

To be precise, Series X and S witnessed a boost of 61 percent in comparison to February.

Moreover, Nintendo Switch was the second best-selling console in the United Kingdom, edging out the PlayStation 5. This is despite the fact that the Switch saw a drop of 21 percent month-on-month. Overall, it’s the number one selling console of the year.

Meanwhile, PlayStation 5, despite slipping to the third spot had a healthy increase of 45 percent in sales from February.

Taking into account the bigger picture, then March saw around 112,000 consoles sold in the UK. It’s a huge jump of 21 percent from February. However, so far, this year has seen fewer sales of video game consoles, being down by 46 percent.
