Following a negative reaction of loyal fans on the social media, the Xbox Vice President for marketing took to Twitter to assure them of multiple reveals in the next year. Now, we do have an extra intel on this situation and it’s quite interesting to say the least.
Xbox might come up with an event in Q1 2023, based on the latest rumor
A lot of Xbox enthusiasts wondered why there was no news for any in-development title from Microsoft as soon as The Game Awards wrapped up. Some of the well-known people from the gaming space expressed their disappointment on the complete lack of updates and announcements from the team. Have a look at them below:
I’d love to understand the thought process of not having to show anything at one of this years’ biggest gaming events. You could say Xbox at least was consistent in 2022, ending the year with another disappointment.

Extremely disappointed in Xbox’s total no-show at #TheGameAwards. If Microsoft wants to start winning back mindshare this generation, they’ve got to show up to the year’s biggest event.
Xbox supposedly has a huge 2023 for us, so why didn’t we see ANY of it tonight?

2023 is DEFINITELY going to be Xbox's year at The Game Awards… right?

very surprised with Xbox not having a presence at The Game Awards IMO it’s a missed opportunity to set the table for what’s to come in 2023

Another reason for such reactions was that rival Sony left no stone unturned in gaining huge attention during The Game Awards. The prestigious event saw the PlayStation giant coming out with numerous updates and surprise announcements for projects like Death Stranding 2. On the other hand, Xbox had nothing to show.
But according to industry insider Jez Corden from Windows Central, Microsoft might be planning something big already. According to him, Xbox is rumored to have an event in the first quarter of the next year. “I’ve heard some tentative, and unverifiable rumors recently that Microsoft may be exploring some kind of event for Q1, possibly in the vein of its X0 events of the pre-pandemic age,” he wrote in an article.
