The newly dispatched NPD Group US games industry sales report for November 2022, has revealed some detailed information about the market. According to the report, the last quarter of the year 2022 has been very promising for Nintendo and PlayStation, especially for the latter. But unfortunately, the same can’t be said about the Xbox.
PlayStation and Nintendo prevailed against Xbox for this reason
The last quarter of the year 2022, has been very good for the gaming industry in the US. Because of the massive surge in gaming hardware supply and the release of some of the most anticipated titles of the year, the market has witnessed a growth of 3% in the month of November 2022, compared to a year ago.
The latest installment in Activision’s beloved FPS series Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 2, was one of the best sellers of the month, followed by the console-exclusive massive releases God Of War: Ragnarok and Pokemon: Scarlet and Violet. Both GOW and Pokemon have witnessed phenomenal sales, breaking a variety of records.
These exclusive games’ demand in terms helped the sales of their respective consoles. God of War: Ragnarok is a PlayStation 4/5 exclusive, developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet developed by GameFreak and published by Nintendo is exclusively available on Nintendo Switch.

According to the report, “Strong hardware performance in the month of November (45% increase vs. year ago to $1.3 billion) was due primarily to a significant increase in PlayStation 5 volume when compared to a year ago.
