Microsoft, XBOX, and ABK- A blueprint from Brad Smith
The Microsoft x ABK million-dollar deal is a much-anticipated event. Many competitors may feel tremendous competition if this deal falls through. Between all these, American Attorney and Microsoft’s President Brad Smith talked to Bloomberg Technology about the Microsoft- Activision-Blizzard deal.
He expressed the need for XBOX to venture more into first-party games. This would bring a much-needed competitive edge to the brand. Sony has more than 200 exclusive titles (including first-party and third-party titles). Whereas, XBOX has only a few more than 50 titles. There is a huge gap considering the exclusivity Sony brings to its PlayStation brand. According to Smith, Microsoft is not trying to bring increased competition. They are looking forward to a contractual relationship with Sony regarding major titles like ‘Call of Duty’. This would bring healthy competition that can be deemed beneficial to both parties.
Moreover, Brad Smith was disappointed at the fact that the Federal State Commission is thought to have blocked their million-dollar ABK deal without even giving Microsoft a chance to sit down and have a meeting with the FTC staff.
“I don’t think we should have governments rejecting potential solutions without first having a real conversation about them”, stated Brad Smith during the Bloomberg interview.
Microsoft will surely go to the maximum extent to make sure this deal happens without any mishaps. Brad Smith and his multi-billion dollar corporation are looking forward to the fulfilment of the ABK deal in 2023 itself.

The internet is split in supporting the tech giant
Soon after the interview, many people took to their socials to express their views on what Brad Smith had to say. Some voiced concerns regarding the deal and even went on to question Microsoft’s capabilities. Whereas, others supported Microsoft’s president’s statements.
If it was on a studio to studio basis youd be right but then you have Sony money hatting 3rd party deal's as well, plus they have to fill gamepass if they want it to succeed

Xbox can’t depend on Square Enix. I they want those kind of titles MS needs to create the industry’s next square enix and make those games themselves. I don’t think the industry should depend on the same games and studios forever anyways.
