After winning their case against FTC, looks like Microsoft is catering to user experience. They recently started fixing online matchmaking servers for classic Call of Duty titles. With this move, around 10,000 players joined Black Ops 2 gameplay. This online matchmaking fix reportedly fixed the Xbox 360 portion of Xbox Live.
While a huge user base was enjoying the recently fixed Call of Duty titles on Xbox 360, a small community of gamers also benefitted from it. Furthermore, the fix deployed by Microsoft has revived a 16-year-old FPS game and its loyal community.

In a discussion on ResetEra, community member wwm0nkey shared the instant response shown by Xbox developers. He thanked the devs for fixing Shadowrun, a 2007 FPS title with a loyal fanbase. The fanbase of this game reached out to Microsoft when news of Call of Duty titles getting fixes became public. He said, “Well a few people (myself included) reached out and Microsoft actually ended up fixing it, not only having it work again, but it kinda works better than it has ever worked in the history of the game being up.”
He added how searching for a match now takes less than 3 seconds whereas earlier it used to take about 30+ seconds. This reveal from wwm0nkey has earned Microsoft the praise of multiple gaming fans. Furthermore, due to them fixing the matchmaking, more people are flocking towards Shadowrun.
Shadowrun is an FPS multiplayer title developed by FASA Interactive and published by Microsoft for Xbox consoles and Windows. The title has earned praise for its unique concept of introducing magic in gun fights. And the early fans of this title are also returning to play it after finding out about the fixed matchmaking. A fan notably said, “It’s wild that I boot up games from the 360 era and am still able to co-op/matchmake. Wish OG XBL would make a comeback but that seems impossible. Microsoft has been incredible with backward compatibility.”
