The metaverse concept has opened up several new avenues of possibilities in a virtual environment. Many tech companies such as Apple, Google, Microsoft/Xbox, and Zuckerberg’s Meta have jumped at this opportunity to get the best out of it. This concept is so relevant that Mark Zuckerberg has renamed his company, Meta, to emphasize the role of the metaverse in the future of technology.
Microsoft’s latest takeover of Activision Blizzard this week for a whopping $68.7 billion has been a milestone in gaming history as the biggest deal of its kind. Xbox has now taken control over some much-coveted IPs such as Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, and Candy Crush.
Phil Spencer, the Xbox boss, has been elated about this new deal and expects some amazing results to follow this new acquisition. While Xbox has confirmed that they will honor all the existing agreements of keeping Call of Duty multiplatform, there are possibilities that the future titles might come out as Xbox exclusives.

Xbox exploring new possibilities for the Multiverse using Elder Scrolls VI
While it is undeniable that Mark Zuckerberg naming his company ‘Meta’ has sparked the conversations regarding a virtual-reality-driven metaverse, the Facebook CEO is not the first person to speak about it in an open forum.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was one of the first proponents in recent years to offer the idea of metaverse when he emphasized Microsoft’s role in creating an enterprise metaverse in May 2021.

In a report by the Washington Post, Spencer has talked about the metaverse being a catalyst in the form of gaming to improve workplace scenarios.
He says, “I’ve really been advocating internally in the company that gaming will be a catalyst for us, and I can see how some of that functionality moving into enterprise scenarios and workplace scenarios can be beneficial.”
He further mentioned that he’d had a team meeting with the Elder Scrolls VI team in-game. “I had a meeting with ‘The Elder Scrolls Online’ team, and we did our leadership team [meeting] in-game. That’s as much of a Zoom call as anything else!”
