The gaming giant had announced a slight increase in prices for Gold membership on Friday. It seems like the backlash from the community has forced Xbox to reverse this move. The studio has now issued a public apology by not just reverting the changes, but also announcing interesting news for free-to-play titles.

Xbox offered an apology and reverted the price hike
In a follow-up statement, Xbox has admitted its mistake after receiving vital feedback from the community. Xbox also acknowledged the importance of multiplayer titles by also identifying the unique experience it provides that is shared with a friend.
”We messed up today and you were right to let us know. Connecting and playing with friends is a vital part of gaming, and we failed to meet the expectations of players who count on it every day. As a result, we have decided not to change Xbox Live Gold pricing.”
The company has promised the pricing will remain the same, and gamers will continue to enjoy gold subscription at the usual rates.
“We’re turning this moment into an opportunity to bring Xbox Live more in line with how we see the player at the center of their experience. For free-to-play games, you will no longer need an Xbox Live Gold membership to play those games on Xbox. We are working hard to deliver this change as soon as possible in the coming months.”
