Rocksteady is set to make a huge return with another title in the Arkham series. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be the brand new title from this studio. The game will feature some of the most iconic villains as saviors of humankind. Yes, that’s right. And it seems like Harley Quinn will play a major role while being part of a group of villains tasked with killing Earth’s mightiest beings.

The makers had recently unveiled a lengthy gameplay footage showcasing what fans can expect from the game. Apart from revealing fresh cutscenes of characters like King Shark, Captain Boomerang, and Deadshot, the clip also unleashed various movement mechanics too. Interestingly, it also showed Harley Quinn swinging through the air like Spidey.

Harley Quinn steals Batman’s Grapple gun in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

The devs at Rocksteady shared another look at the game. In the recent video, they talked about the traversal and how it will be unique in the upcoming title.

In the video, we see the 4 members of task force X break into the Hall of Justice and steal weapons and gadgets that belong to the members of the Justice League. And Harley Quinn steals Batman’s Grapple gun and Bat Drone! Harley is able to utilize the grapple gun and Bat-Drone in order to stay in-air, momentarily, while making a quick swinging action. Swinging from Bat-Drone also lets her circumvent the enemies’ shields and flank them, when required.

Darius Sadeghian, the studio director at Rocksteady Studios, explained, “So here we’re taking these iconic characters who don’t typically traverse the way they do in our game. But that’s the beauty of our storytelling. We’ve managed to take these unique abilities and make that an extension of their personalities.”

Along with Harley stealing the Bat’s gadgets, Captain Boomerang steals the Speed Force Gauntlet. King Shark hilariously wears The Riddler’s hat. And Deadshot takes Gizmo’s jetpack.

What to expect from the story of Kill the Justice League?

According to the description provided by Rocksteady, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice features an original story set in the DC universe. Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, King Shark, and Harley Quinn are tasked with a near-impossible mission.

Superman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern (and probably others) are corrupted by Brainiac. The villains have to save the planet of Earth by killing these Justice League members. In the video, Amanda Waller also tells the team she wants The Penguin recruited, so surely he has a significant role to play.

Game director Axel Rydby stated, “Since Batman: Arkham Knight, the Penguin is no longer confined to Gotham City. He’s made a name for himself in Metropolis as the authority of anti-metahuman weapons.”

The game takes place around five years after the events of Arkham Knight. So it will be interesting to see if there are any more Arkham Verse connections aside from easter eggs.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League releases on February 2, 2024. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X\S, and PC.
