Ever since it was first announced, way back in December 2021, the upcoming Wonder Woman game from Warner Bros. has gained a significant buzz. It was revealed to be an ambitious, open-world single player title. But recent reports claimed that it will rely heavily on a live service model. Is it actually going to be the case or not?

The publisher has now come forward in order to give a proper clarification. After the news catching a lot of attention online, Warner Bros. recently decided to offer a clear answer to anyone who’s having doubts about the game’s future. Wonder Woman is being developed by the studio named Monolith Productions.

For the uninitiated, games falling under live service category mainly focus on a long-term support. After releasing a specific title, the devs provide constant updates for the fans in the subsequent years. Mainly, the format follows a seasonal structure where updates are rolled out to push new content for the same title. Games like Call of Duty Warzone, Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Destiny 2 are some of the most popular live service based titles.

Talking about the situation of Wonder Woman game, it all started when a job listing for the project was noticed by some outlets, a few days ago. The role for this position requires the fitting candidate to have an experience in maintaining a live service software product or game. Shortly, the news of this single player game taking a live service route spread across the internet.

To provide a definitive answer, Warner Bros. then told a renowned outlet that Wonder Woman won’t actually emphasise on a live service model. “This third person experience will allow players to become Diana of Themyscira and introduce an original story set in the DC Universe, while also featuring the Nemesis System. Wonder Woman is not being designed as a live service,” a spokesperson told IGN.

Are there any other live service games coming from Warner Bros.?

Previously, Warner Bros. CEO, David Zaslav has mentioned plans about making more live service games in the future. He said that the publisher will focus on expanding its biggest franchises. And that it will do that by offering more always-on gameplay in the form of live-service, free-to-play, and multi-platform releases. It will be done to engage players on more platforms like PC and consoles.

Speaking of the future line-up, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will include many live service elements. As revealed earlier this year, it will consist of a Battle Pass structure with new content coming out from the devs. Although it will have a single-player story mode, with co-op options, the game will need a permanent online connection.
