Microsoft fans are elated as the Console Wars seems to have finally declared a winner. The Xbox makers have come out of the FTC-Microsoft legal wars with the approval of the US court. Sony’s attempts have fallen short of preventing the Microsoft-Activision takeover. With this verdict, Microsoft will soon gain control of several franchises reducing PlayStation‘s dominant position in the console industry.

PlayStation easily boasts a bigger roaster compared to Xbox when it comes to exclusive titles. US Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley’s verdict will help Microsoft put up a fight. It remains to be seen how Microsoft takes up the new responsibility following the ruling.

Microsoft emerges victorious over FTC and acquires Activision

In 2022, Microsoft announced its plans for taking over Activision Blizzard. This stirred the gaming world and Sony didn’t take the proposal very nicely. The PlayStation makers contested the merger arguing that Microsoft will get an undue advantage in the industry with this deal. Sony also showed concerns over PlayStation players being restricted from future Activision titles. However, Xbox denied these allegations.

Microsoft claimed that Sony’s concerns were baseless, given the number of exclusive titles that PS has. Despite this, Sony’s speculations made the Federal Trade Commission take Microsoft to court to explain the details of the merger and justify the move. In these sessions, Microsoft argued Sony is the leader in the console industry with multiple exclusive titles and it’s time Xbox received its share as well. Now, it looks like Microsoft’s plans aren’t that damaging to Sony as Judge Corley has decided to FTC’s injunction pleas.

Xbox stepping up to PlayStation 5

With the verdict, Microsoft will soon have control over multiple Activision-Blizzard titles, including Call of Duty, Diablo, Overwatch, Crash Bandicoot and more. With these IPs becoming Micorosft’s copyright properties, Xbox suddenly seems a lucrative console to buy for many gamers. An industry insider has taken to social media to list more titles that Microsoft will get direct authority over in the coming months.

Since the start of the fiasco, many Xbox fans complained that Sony’s reactions to the issue are a little too intensive, given how much they control the industry. Along with that, many also claimed that Sony is simply motivated by sales and wouldn’t want to be overtaken by Xbox.
