The heated point of debate in the Esports and gaming front currently has been the Microsoft Activision acquisition. Nintendo, Sony, and Xbox are arguably the three major pillars of the gaming console industry. And recently, Sony has been cruising with its revenues as per reports that were released in December 2022. But, the domination may come to a halt if Microsoft bags the dream deal of Activision.
By gaining the talented studio, Microsoft will also get its hands on the Call of Duty franchise. Being one of the biggest gaming brands to ever exist, this would be a huge advantage for Xbox and Microsoft.

There have been hurdles since the acquisition decision, but it seems like come whatever may, Microsoft is not backing out. As things are pacing towards the finish lines, even Nintendo has signed a 10-year deal with Microsoft to ensure that Call of Duty is present within its consoles.
Amidst these, and Sony’s lack of interest in the acquisition, Brad Smith has an interesting proposition towards their competitors. Sony’s contract with Activision is coming to an end within a year and it will be problematic for them.
And if an agreement between the COD developers and PlayStation does not fall through, Call of Duty 2024 ( Codename-Cerebrus) would be their last joint venture. That means the console will only have two more titles of Call of Duty with them if an agreement is not met.

Moreover, the President of Microsoft even had documentation in his hands for Sony, ready to sign. This would be a tough call for PlayStation, as Call of Duty has been on top of their charts for a long time. Reports even suggested that Nvidia has agreed on a deal with Microsoft, which furthermore complicates the situation for Sony. At the moment of writing this, Sony has not made any statements regarding the complex situation.
