The handheld console market is about to get bigger. Ayaneo is one of the most prominent handheld PC makers on the market. Fans know how respected the brand is, given the fact that they brought much-needed funkiness along with their devices. With RGB analog sticks, OLED displays, and active coolers, these devices are in their own league. They are even competing with the likes of Steam Deck, and they have a huge fanbase of their own.

Unlike most of its competitors, Ayaneo has continued to introduce newer models to gamers. Currently, on their official website, they have three different consoles for sale: Ayaneo GEEK, Ayaneo 2, and Air Plus. But the hardware manufacturer seems to be working on one more device, and it has some similarities to a popular Nintendo console!

The Nintendo DS is still a very popular video game console. Many young and old gamers would remember this console’s standout design and its easy-to-use nature. Maybe that’s why it became the talk of the town when it launched back in 2005.

Liliputing has reported that Ayaneo had decided to bring back the statement Nintendo made with the DS. They have designed their latest console after the Nintendo DS console, and they have even named it Aya Neo Flip DS. Yes, its name is a mouthful, but so is the console itself. This console, like its inspiration, features a dual-display setup. One is at the top of it while the other is on the lower side, just like the Nintendo DS console was.

It’s very interesting that Ayaneo decided to take this route when creating a console. Given the fact that their normal PSP-like designs were not selling well, they have been pretty successful all over. Maybe Ayaneo aims to compete with the likes of GPD by developing such a different kind of design.

Only fans would know how this latest attempt by Ayaneo pays off. Of course, there are always emulation enthusiasts looking for such devices, and no doubt the Flip DS is a device custom-made for emulating DS and 3DS games.

It’s pretty heavy on the specs too!

While the Ayaneo Flip DS looks fancy enough in design, the console is also equipped with some uber-powerful hardware under its hood.

All the other specs are currently under wraps, but they will soon be announced once the company decides to announce this device officially. These specs are overkill for emulating DS or 3Ds, for that matter, but battery life would surely suffer.

With the rest of the features yet to be announced, it remains to be seen how they position it to give competition to the devices currently in the handheld console market.
