Nintendo follows PlayStation and Microsoft into the ’70-dollars’ club!

Fans are immensely excited about Nintendo’s upcoming big-budget title, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This game would be launching in May for Nintendo Switch. It goes without saying that fans are going to line up to buy this action-adventure sandbox title.

They have yet to get any significant detail on this game, but recently the game dropped for pre-order on Nintendo Switch’s Eshop. What shocked fans was the fact that the game was priced at an astonishing $69.99.

While some were surprised by this change in price, others saw it as an obvious thing. They stated they had a notion that this day was coming. This also means that going forward we would start seeing all of Nintendo’s first-party titles at this increased price.

According to some of the Industry’s leading developers and publishers, the price increase of video games is completely justified. They say that ever since the dawn of console gaming, prices of video games have remained unchanged, yet technologies, production costs as well as other expenses have increased significantly.

Now there’s an argument to be made here. Some critics of this price increase have made it clear that even though the expenses of developing a game have increased, the fandom has seen an increase too!

For example, The Last of Us Part 1 was a Remake of The Last of Us, developed by Naughty Dog. This game had a very popular name attached to it, and it was developed by a popular developer.

This means this game would have earned more than enough even if it was priced at $60. On the other hand, it was basically an asset flip of the Last of Us Part 2, so it was not even a completely original game. It never did anything to justify that $70 price.
