CD Projekt RED’s celebrated open-world RPG The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt was a game changer when it launched in every sense. Before this game, open-world RPGs has a clunky combat system and side quests that were somewhat detached from the main story.
It all changed with The Witcher, as it brought choices to the story, it brought real consequences and it brought players the freedom to let their character’s beard grow as naturally to its full glory. With all this freedom and a bunch of romantic paths, this game had everything, and maybe that is why it was so successful.
