The gaming industry giants, Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox are all set to sit down and square off the long-running feud over Activision’s Call of Duty rights. Other than the juggernauts, representatives of Nvidia and Google will also be present at the meeting to set up the terms once and for all.
A huge storm brewed when Microsoft proposed an acquisition deal to the developers of Call of Duty. This deal was highly criticized by consumers as well as regulators. The UK regulator went into an in-depth investigation on the deal’s-influence on the gaming market and whether it would be a devastating blow to the industry’s eco-system.

Earlier, Microsoft had signed a revolutionary deal with the Japanese giant, Nintendo, where they finally agreed to bring Xbox games to the Nintendo systems, including the beloved FPS franchise, Call of Duty. They have agreed on a 10-year-long binding contract that will guarantee a steady stream of Xbox games on Nintendo consoles.

“We’ve now signed a binding 10-year contract to bring Xbox games to Nintendo’s gamers. This is just part of our commitment to bring Xbox games and Activision titles like Call of Duty to more players on more platforms,” tweeted the vice chair and president of Microsoft, Brad Smith. In the tweet, he also featured an official digital announcement of the partnership.
Continuing the momentum, Microsoft is all set to sit with the representatives of their biggest competitors as well as some of the most influential players in the market. The meeting will be joined by the advocates of EA, Valve, Google, Nvidia, Sony (PlayStation), and more. Phil Spencer will represent Xbox while PlayStation will be voiced by Jim Ryan.

It’s a big pivotal meeting that will include Xbox chief Phil Spencer, PlayStation chief Jim Ryan, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick, and reps for Nvidia and Google,” tweeted veteran game journalist, Tom Warren, replying to Brad Smith’s tweet regarding the Microsoft X Nintendo Deal.

This makes PS & Nintendo look pathetic. They should have no say in what MS does with Call Of Duty. If that’s what this is really about and not concern for a “monopoly”, the EU regulators should let MS own Activision without this contract. Unless Mario & Kratos port to Xbox too.
