The recent TV series adapted from one of the most famous games of all time, The Last of Us, is truly carrying the game’s legacy. Just like the game, this series has been getting so much admiration and love from the fans. After the successful airing of the first season, we should easily expect the second season as well. But is that the case?
In the recently announced The Last of Us Day stream, Naughty Dog has confirmed that there will be no news or updates regarding any games or any TV series, including the highly anticipated season two of the series. As it seems, the future of the series is still unclear.

The Last of Us Day happens to commemorate the in-game date of the Cordyceps infection reaching a critical mass. Coincidentally, this day, i.e., September 26, coincides with the tenth anniversary of the series. So, fans were hoping there would be at least some sneak peeks regarding season two of the TLOU series.
But sadly, Naughty Dogs has straightaway stated that they won’t be discussing any future game or TV show projects. The event will be solely focused on featuring arts, merchandise, and other products regarding the game, besides honoring the ten-year legacy of the series.

Earlier this year, Naughty Dog announced its highly anticipated multiplayer game, which will be the third title of this franchise. But as of now, the game needs more time before it gets further updates, according to the company.

Also, the writers strike in the USA has forced the company to postpone the works of Season 2 of highly acclaimed HBO’s live-action adaptation. As a consequence of these two, there will be no updates about any games or TV series on the Last of Us Day stream.
What is the current status of Season 2?
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, TLOU Craig Mazin revealed that, as of now, there is no chance of a second season surfacing. According to him, if everything goes according to plan, the second season will air in 2025. Although Mazin didn’t give any concrete or specific details.

Right now, the actors’ and writers’ strike is in full swing in the USA. So, the production work is totally stopped right now. As of now, HBO is planning on starting filming the second season of TLOU early next year in Vancouver. But if the WGA strike persists in large part, the schedule will also change based on the circumstances.

After the huge success of the TLOU series in the first season, fans are really rooting for its successor. But amidst these strikes, the denial of any update from Naughty Dogs might have hurt fans’ emotions. Although the series will be covered in more than one season, so fans are not letting their hopes go.
