Call of Duty fans will soon witness the arrival of The Haunting event in Modern Warfare II. Ahead of next month’s Modern Warfare 3, they will get to witness a spooky, scary atmosphere in the existing game, including Warzone battle royale.

While most of the players are waiting for the mid-season update, some of them are also curious about The Haunting and its future. Given the fact that it will feature Zombies, some of the fans must be hoping for the event to carry forward into MW3 as well. The latter will also have an open-world mode with Zombies. But is it going to be the case? Will Activision bring the Haunting to the next game too?

Here’s what to expect on The Haunting in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Upon its debut, the spooky event will transform the way players have been enjoying Modern Warfare II, Warzone, and DMZ. With the final mid-season update, they will receive a complete overhaul of the Multiplayer, battle royale, and extraction-based modes. It’s going to drop on October 17, on Tuesday.

Now speaking of The Haunting in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, it’s not likely to happen. There are several key reasons to believe so. As of now, the end date of the Halloween-themed event is not confirmed. But that doesn’t mean it will continue to exist in MW3 as well.

The devs haven’t really confirmed The Haunting for Modern Warfare 3. Yes, players can get pre-order bonuses like weapons for the game’s Vault Edition to use in MWII and Warzone. But the actual existence of the event in the upcoming title hasn’t been teased just yet.

What’s in store for fans during The Haunting mid-season update in Modern Warfare II and Warzone?

Firstly, the Multiplayer experience will receive an overhaul. It will have a Soul Capture event, similar to Season 3’s Trophy Hunt. Players will be able to collect Souls after eliminating the enemies. The Souls can then be redeemed to earn exclusive rewards. Also, the battle royale and  DMZ modes will feature this specific event.

Moreover, two MP maps namely El Asilo and Embassy will receive a makeover with The Haunting. The map of El Asilo will have a Día de Muertos aesthetic. On the other hand, the Embassy will have a look based on the after-effects of a zombie attack. Meanwhile, below is the list of all the Multiplayer modes getting a Zombie-themed makeover:

  • Haunting Domination
  • Haunting Kill Confirmed
  • Haunting Grind
  • Haunting Drop Zone Drop Scares
  • Haunting Infected

What’s more? Players will also get to purchase exclusive licensed Operator bundles from other popular franchises. Lilith from Diablo, Ash Williams from the Evil Dead series, and Skeletor from Masters of the Universe are all coming to Call of Duty ahead of Halloween.

Once again, The Haunting mid-season update is released on October 17, 2023, in Modern Warfare II and Warzone.
