Call of Duty franchise has amassed massive popularity in the last 20 years due to its immersive Campaign missions. Across various games, fans have witnessed some of the most memorable single-player quests. They are expecting the same from Modern Warfare 3 as well. While most of the missions have been average to short, in terms of duration, this year’s premium from Activision might be an exception.

It’s because there are various reasons that may end up extending the length of Modern Warfare 3’s story for many players. Well, they won’t mind since most of them have always wanted to enjoy a COD that lasts a little longer before rolling the credits.

For the uninitiated, Open-Combat Missions is a new feature that will be seen in the upcoming title. Sledgehammer’s team has designed it in such a manner that will enable players to think about creating new tactics and strategies in order to complete a certain mission. In simple words, they will get a feel of an open-world RPG where more choices are offered to finish the quests. Now, the same approach will be implemented in a COD Campaign. However, the implementation of open-combat missions will be limited to a few quests only.

Still, the feature may result in many players taking longer than usual to finish the missions. Due to utilizing new methods to do the same thing, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 might turn out to be a bit long for them.

Yes, the upcoming feature won’t be a huge factor in extending the Campaign length. But it will still make a difference as players will try to skip the linear way in order to try an open-world style strategy. Hence, the overall duration may end up being more than usual for them. Generally, the stats have ranged between 7-9 hours for recent COD games. Modern Warfare 3 may go past this mark in case it receives a deeper open-combat themed approach.

Which characters are returning to Modern Warfare 3 Campaign and what’s the new map?

It’s already known that the game is a continuation of Modern Warfare II from last year. Its story will take place after the events of its predecessor. However, this time, the members of Task Force 141 will face their arch nemesis and ultimate threat. The iconic series villain Vladimir Makarov is returning with MW3 Campaign. He was last seen in 2011’s original Modern Warfare 3.
