Martin Li’s actions led to tragic consequences in the life of Miles Morales. A terrorist attack at City Hall planned by Li resulted in the death of Miles’ father, Jefferson Davis. This led to Miles harboring intense anger and resentment towards Li for this act. However, Li has mostly avoided acknowledging Miles. Nevertheless, there was a moment when he prevented one of his inner demons from harming the young Miles when he was in their custody, showing a more complex relationship between them.

In the previous game, Mr. Negative played a pivotal role. His actions had a profound impact on both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Mr.Negative is responsible for the death of Miles’ father along with Aunt May. This has made him a villain and the spiders have a natural hate against him, which could lead to a confrontation between them.

The hint of Mr. Negative’s return was previously featured in the 2023 PlayStation Showcase footage, where Kraven the Hunter was introduced, along with the concept of his “great hunt.” The teaser suggested that Kraven was seeking “worthy prey” in New York. This led to the discovery of a list containing skilled characters, convicts, and new villains. This implies that Martin Li might be part of a sequence where Kraven hunts the R.A.F.T. prison’s inmates, including Li and other members of the Sinister Six.

Nadji Jeter’s take on Mr.Negative

Nadji Jeter, the voice of Miles Morales, discussed Mr. Negative’s return and how it affects Miles personally. In the new footage, Mr. Negative appeared with a beard, long hair, and wearing a R.A.F.T. prisoner uniform. While nothing more was seen of Martin in the trailer, it is expected that Miles does encounter him and share his grief.

Jeter expressed surprise that the Mr. Negative storyline would be revisited, as the villain was apprehended at the end of the first game and did not make an appearance in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
