CS2 eSports teams are just getting started with the professional scene with just 1 major tournament hosted so far. During the IEM at Sydney, the FaZe clan took the win and left Vitality in last place. The new meta has changed quite a few things that players will need to get used to. While this was only the first tournament, Vitality took a hit that pushed them to take some drastic actions.
It looks like Vitality is ready to drop its players for its CS2 team and look the other way. As the team placed last in the CS2 tournament, the management decided to lay off some players which led to the formation of a potential SuperTeam for CS2.

Vitality is bidding farewell to the last member of the ex-Astralis trio, which consists of Dupreeh, zonic, and Magisk. This marks the end of an era as all three of them have left the team. Dupreeh, zonic, and Magisk played a pivotal role in helping Vitality achieve their dream of becoming the last-ever CS: GO Major champions in France. These three players heavily contributed to the team’s success during their time with Vitality. The ex-Astralis trio, along with the Vitality roster, secured several major tournament victories, including ESL Pro League Season 16, IEM Rio 2023, BLAST Paris Major 2023, and Gamers 8.

Dupreeh and Zonic left the Vitality roster for other opportunities. Magisk also left the team, ending the association with the ex-Astralis trio in Vitality. The idea here is to bring these three Major winners (Dupreeh, Zonic, and Magisk) together with Niko, who is leaving G2, under the Falcon banner to form a super team. Niko, despite being a star player, has never won a Major championship. Joining a team with three experienced Major winners can greatly enhance his chances of achieving this milestone.
The team benefits from the immense experience and skill brought by Dupreeh, zonic, and Magisk. Their knowledge of winning Majors can offer invaluable guidance and mentoring to Niko and the team during high-pressure situations. The trio’s original partnership dissolves as Magisk departs from the team. They may be contemplating a new career direction, possibly leading to the formation of this super team. Niko’s departure from G2 creates an opportunity for him to potentially join this super team. His decision may be driven by a desire to secure a Major championship victory. Joining forces with the ex-Astralis trio significantly enhances Niko’s prospects of winning a Major.
Players joining the Falcons
Team Falcons is determined to establish itself as the world’s number-one team. Zonic and Lars hold the resources and authority to shape the team and pursue this ambitious goal. Both Zonic and Lars expressed their respect for Vitality’s decision to part ways with them. The players gracefully handled the emotional departure and showed support for their coaches. The hiring of Zonic and Lars constitutes a key element of a three-year plan designed to secure a Counter-Strike Major title, already generating substantial interest and rumors concerning player acquisitions.
Zonic’s decision to join Team Falcons, a team ranked 55th in the world without a Major win, sent shockwaves throughout the esports community. Since 2018, Zonic and Lars have been working together, and they jointly decided to join Team Falcons. Zonic and Lars chose Team Falcons for both mid- and long-term reasons. He aims to win a Major in all three versions of Counter-Strike, including 1.6 as a player, CS: GO as a coach, and CS2 as a coach.

Along with Zonic and Lars, the Falcons also have Magisk joining the team. The move marks a reunion between Magisk and his former coach, Zonic, who also recently joined the Falcons. Many anticipated the transfer of Magisk to Falcons because of the prior announcement of Zonic, the former coach of Team Vitality, and Head of Performance, Lars Robl, joining the Saudi organization in November. Zonic’s involvement in the move added to the credibility of the rumors surrounding Magisk’s transfer.
The Falcons organization is reportedly planning to build a superteam under the leadership of Zonic. This superteam project is expected to take shape in 2024. Magisk has a history of success with Zonic, having won Majors with him during their time at both Astralis and Vitality. This move marks their third collaboration in an esports organization. Falcons are also pursuing negotiations with other notable CS players, including NiKo and Snappi.
