Ever since it was first revealed few months ago, Immortals of Aveum has gradually picked a positive momentum. The hype is going strong for the game’s release and everyone seems to be curious to see how it fares eventually. Apart from that, the buzz around this FPS magic shooter is due to the lore behind it, and its connection with another first-person IP, Call of Duty. That’s because it’s been helmed by the people who were previously involved in various titles for Activision’s celebrated franchise.

However, as the days go by, Ascendant Studios’ upcoming, ambitious project is looking extremely promising. The early impressions of its gameplay experience have been mostly favorable. Which means that it might end up becoming a unique entry in the long run. Especially in the first-person shooter category, while dealing with fantasy and a lot of magic!

In case anyone missed keeping track of it, the game is developed by Ascendant Studios and published by Electronic Arts. The people involved in its making have come from their experience on BioShock, Borderlands, and Call of Duty of course. In fact, director Bret Robbins himself has credits on three COD titles for Activision.

During the recent gameplay presentation, Robbins had shared his fascination for Call of Duty, but with magic. While talking about the upcoming magic shooter, he mentioned how he always had this thought of creating an FPS game combined with the elements of fantasy. It’s from the time when he was designing a certain level under the COD series.

Speaking of its features players will get to have a “fast, fluid, first-person, spell-based combat that’s easy to learn and satisfying to master.” That’s what the official page says online. “In Immortals of Aveum, magic is at the core of both offense and defense. Creatively leverage all three forces of magic and be rewarded for chained attacks and well-timed counter”.

Many media outlets have also mentioned in their overview that this FPS entry feels like Call of Duty having a crossover with magic. Activision’s IP has made a mark in terms of ruling the first-person shooter genre in the last decade. Immortals of Aveum could also end up doing that in the world of fantasy-based magic shooters. Now that it has already amassed a growing popularity, things are looking very hopeful for Ascendant Studios’ dream project.
