Elden Ring developer FromSoftware finally launched the gameplay trailer for their upcoming mech fighting game, Armored Core VI. Longtime fans of this series are indeed very excited, but people who have just become acquainted with this developer and this series are equally hyped.

Remembering how Elden Ring took the industry by storm last year, everyone is anticipating this game to do the same. FromSoftware has a great track record in this case too; almost all of their games win the prestigious GOTY award. And that is exactly why fans are very hopeful about Armored Core VI doing the same. But it has some tough competition this year.

Would Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon win GOTY 2023, defeating the likes of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Spider-Man 2?

Last year, when the announcement trailer for Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon hit the internet, many fans were curious, others were excited, and some were a bit confused. The confused ones wanted to know what happened to the Elden Ring DLC. While the other groups just wanted to know more about this game.

And that time came recently when the developer released a gameplay trailer. The trailer showed a bunch of mechs fighting it out on a smoldering planet. Some exposition was given, and then the producer of this game gave some details about it too. And it all sounds very promising.

Fast-paced combat, a very dark sci-fi story, saving the world, and the protagonist being stuck amidst a huge battle—it had all the characteristics of a FromSoftware game, and so fans decided that this game is GOTY 2023 worthy.

But maybe they overlooked the competition. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is less than two weeks away now, and the game has such hype built around it that it’s already a ground-breaking success. It has already crossed its predecessor in sales, and like every FromSoftware game, every Zelda title also has a track record of being a GOTY.

And finally, there’s Spider-Man 2, whose previous installments were nothing short of masterpieces. The developer working on it is known for pushing the graphical limits of a console. Also, everyone involved with the game has only praise for this upcoming title. And let’s not forget, the original Spider-Man title won a GOTY too. Even though fans have yet to see this game in action, the expectations are high. So much so that it is already being pitched as a GOTY contender for 2023.

So, the question stands: Would Armored Core VI win GOTY? Maybe, but it has very tough competition this year. It would not be wise to make any comment before all three of these games have launched.

Till then, 2023 will not leave any stone unturned in being the most exciting year for gamers yet. Whoever wins the award, all these games would be excellent in their own ways, and that’s all that matters most.
