Valorant came into the FPS market in 2020. The game soon became a massive hit as the title offered a combination of gunplay and unique ability usage. The stylizing of the game was widely acclaimed, and it went on to top the charts. Many prominent CS: GO veterans found a new home in Valorant, and the game is thriving at the moment.
But the introduction of Counter-Strike 2 raises opposition to Riot’s FPS. The distinctive factor that made Valorant stand out was its dynamic display. With the introduction of Source 2, CS 2 is able to bring vibrant visuals to gamers. Though the game had to compromise on the mature front of its predecessor a little.
The new unique ‘responsive smokes’ offers players a new avenue to learn and explore. Valorant is also known for its iconic weapon skins like the Elderflame bundle, Oni, or even the Prime Bundle. The changes that Valve brought into CS 2 now have made the skin lines, especially the melees exquisite. The color grading is quite impressive and the shiny texture even reflects sun rays.
But with all these aspects coming into the picture, does CS 2 have the potential to kill Valorant? Or will it pull a massive player base from Riot? It is highly unlikely.
First of all, Valorant offers players the possibility of using various characters which have unique powers that they can use on the battlefield. Thus offering heterogeneity in the gameplay. CS 2 follows the basic CS: GO mechanics, and thus there is a variance at this point.
The next idea is the developer itself. Riot has been quite responsive to the player’s demands. The game is constantly going through massive meta changes and has managed to keep players engaged. The eSports front also has been quite active.

So we can say that the games do share some similarities, but the spectrum in which both can be compared is quite difficult. Mainly because both games have very different playstyles.
