Ever since Infinity Ward released the rebooted Modern Warfare, back in 2019, the franchise has witnessed a huge transformation. Especially, in the way players experience its FPS titles. Compared to older installments, the newer offerings have turned out to be quite different for the fans due to some newly introduced changes and features. Crossplay, undoubtedly, happens to be one of them. Continuing the trend from the recent games, the current Call of Duty premium is also having it.
Well, that’s been the problem for many players to say the least. Crossplay, for the most part, has been divisive among the hardcore Call of Duty lovers. A lot of people believe that it has affected the FPS experience they used to have five to six years ago. Considering there’s a new game on its way in 2023, there are now doubts emerging over the return of crossplay. So is it coming back for MWIII also?

For those who don’t have a basic idea about it, Crossplay is a functionality that enables one player to enjoy a game with others regardless of the platform they are on. For example, a user having an Xbox can play with someone having a PlayStation or a PC. In short, despite being on different devices, players can enjoy gaming together instead of being restricted to the closed ecosystem of their respective platforms.
But in case of Call of Duty, this feature has mostly ended up being controversial. That’s because now, the cases of hacking and cheating have increased a lot, compared to few years ago. This is true for those games that have launched after 2019. A lot of fans believe that it’s all the result of crossplay.

Now the big question that arises is: will crossplay make a comeback in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III as well? In simple words, the answer is yes. It might end up being in the next installment too. Although Activision hasn’t officially confirmed it, the chances of Sledgehammer’s game being cross-platform are high at the moment. Considering all the last four titles that have released with this functionality, it seems highly likely that MWIII will also have it.
What to expect from Modern Warfare III’s content?
So far, we know that the upcoming title will launch with 16 remastered maps from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2. Which means that nostalgia lovers will be able to relive their favorite, golden days of playing Call of Duty games. Moreover, the new premium will also have a Carry Forward feature to enable the users to keep their purchased bundles and cosmetics for use in MWIII.
