For a long time, Call of Duty has been existing on various consoles while swaying millions of players worldwide. However, when it comes to the Nintendo fanbase, the Activision franchise has been a rare luxury for those with the handheld console. But many gamers will be shocked to know that a memorable CoD title has been already released more than a decade ago for a classic Nintendo device.

In case anyone has missed keeping track of events, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was the first installment in the now-iconic sub-series from Activision. It was released in the year 2007 for multiple platforms, including a Nintendo console as well.
When Activision made Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the Nintendo DS!
This might sound bizarre for the current generation of players, but a CoD game has existed for Nintendo for more than ten years. A YouTube channel, that goes by the name Remedy Flips, showed in one of their Shorts that 2007’s epic Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was not only launched for other platforms but for the DS as well.
The clip shows an official game chip for the Nintendo DS and then the YouTuber is seen loading Modern Warfare on the classic handheld console. Most of the players are unaware of this information, but Activision did roll out a DS version for the fourth entry in the series. It featured a lot of elements and mechanics typical of the FPS saga like using iron sights and also vehicular missions.

The Nintendo DS version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was initially showcased during 2007’s E3 event. The game then ended up receiving positive reactions from the critics and also sold well.
What’s next in the Call of Duty saga?
Meanwhile, the entire fandom is waiting for the next major installment in the action franchise. Modern Warfare II, developed by Infinity Ward, is a direct sequel to its predecessor from 2019. The game will mark the return of characters like Captain Price, Ghost, Soap, Farah, and a few others.

Speaking of the release date, MWII will make its way on October 28th, 2022. It will be available for platforms like PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Battle.net and Steam.
