The iconic Japanese giant Sony Interactive Entertainment is all set to acquire Bungie and soon this American video game developer will be a part of PlayStation. This acquisition, that hit the news headlines on Jan 31, 2022, will cost Sony a whopping $3.6 billion. This is the next big acquisition in the gaming industry after Microsoft and Activision Blizzard’s deal. Moreover, the President and Chief Executive Officer of PlayStation has made a few announcements regarding this acquisition on the official PlayStation Blog.
The first thing that CEO Jim Ryan said is Bungie will remain an independent studio and will continue to develop and publish games for multiple platforms. In fact, Jim also stated that they are pretty much excited about all the opportunities for collaborations between the two gaming studios.

Notably, the CEO has also invested a lot of time in building relationships with the Bungie management team. Perhaps the reason behind this is to ensure that Sony Interactive Entertainment fully backs and supports Bungie, which will enable the American gaming studio to do what they do best.

PlayStation CEO mentioned Bungie’s global expertise in live game services and developing games for multiple platforms which should help PlayStation expand to millions of gamers. No doubt Mr. Ryan is pretty much optimistic about this acquisition. Additionally, he also stated that this acquisition will help PlayStation Studios to achieve new goals under the leadership of Hermen Hulst.
