Starfield will soon be making its way to Xbox consoles and PC. The game would also be available to subscribers of Microsoft’s very popular Game Pass service. Besides all this, the game would also be available to purchase through stores. Fans would even be able to purchase a collector’s edition of this game for a hefty price.

This edition would come in a fancy box that would contain a special edition watch, a premium edition of the game, and some other goodies. But it would be missing something that is somewhat crucial—a physical disc of the game!

Gaming is a huge investment nowadays; every new AAA title costs close to $70. This price point means a person has to think a lot before putting their money into it. It’s a very complicated thing, and it’s made worse by the fact that there are no discs to be had for many of these games. This means that if a person does not like a game after buying it, they cannot even trade it. What a pickle!

This started long ago with games like Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain, etc. These games contained a disc, but that disc only had Steam setup on it. Only enough for people to get started. And it has only grown over the years; nowadays, fans do not even get a disc with the Steam setup. All they get is a game code.

The ownership of such games is also a big question. When purchasing a game, a person is basically renting a digital license of the said game from the developer. This simply means that the developer can even revoke that license at will; what’s worse is that they can decide tomorrow to remove a game from Steam, the PlayStation Store, etc., and players would no longer have access to those games.

This is why every game should have an actual physical copy in its name. This only assures a fan that they have actual ownership of the game. Hence, we would love to see a physical disc of this upcoming open-world sci-fi epic.
