Twitch has been in the headlines for some time. Numerous well-known broadcasters like Ludwig, MoistCr1TiKaL, and even MrBeast, voiced their disapproval of Twitch’s new creator policies. Streamers have been outspoken in their opposition to the platform’s new rules. Now MrBeast’s girlfriend Thea Booysen in the latest stream exposed Twitch’s psychological tactics drawing parallels with Tim Cook’s Apple company.
After the criticism, the streaming service promised the fans some adjustments to the new rules, but the supporters weren’t happy. The platform later brought Partner Plus Program to get some attention but left the fans confused. Booysen has come up with intriguing views against such strategies used by companies like Apple and Twitch to delude users. She broke down the policy of the streaming platform through a simple yet intriguing analogy.

During a stream, Thea Booysen criticized unethical tactics used by big title companies quoted, “ It’s Psychology 101. When you want to make a child eat their vegetables, you’re not gonna say Eat your vegetables! You’re gonna say, do you want five pieces of broccoli or three pieces of broccoli? This will make Tommy think damn I have a choice. He will eat three pieces of broccoli, which he was supposed to but now he thinks he had a choice. Science! That’s what Twitch is doing.”

Fans found the analogy very interesting. The analogy perfectly decodes the marketing strategy used by some companies that want the users to feel the power of choice. Similar allegations were faced by Apple company during the recent launch of their Apple Vision Pro when Tim Cook refused to wear the product. Not just Booysen, but some other popular names like Mrwhosetheboss and MKBHD have clarified that Twitch’s newest announcement of the Partner Pro Policy is just an attempt to save the falling platform.
While Twitch keeps being in the news for its controversial policies, its prime rival Kick has pulled off massive traffic from the platform. A lot of the credit goes to such big names coming together and openly criticizing the platform and asking fans to move on.
