In case anyone missed keeping track of events, there’s been a massive change made to Call of Duty. It looks like Season 4 is not the only surprise fans are going to witness this month. That’s because the makers have decided to update the IP’s iconic fonts ahead of the upcoming update. But that’s not even the biggest highlight at all.
What’s interesting to note is that Season 4 will also see a revised title for Activision’s battle royale game Warzone. Yes, it’s not Warzone 2.0 anymore – simply Warzone. But what could be the reason behind the ongoing installment’s rebranding? And why now?
Is ‘Call of Duty Warzone’ back, following a tough ride?

The battle royale will soon receive a brand new map in Vondel next week. The map is set to offer the players a fresh region to explore and compete with each other. It will also be available as part of the extraction-based DMZ mode. While everything seems to be going normal, one inevitable detail in the game’s name is making many people wonder in curiosity.

Well it’s the rebranded title of Call of Duty Warzone. As per recent reports, it was officially confirmed by a representative from Activision that the ‘2.0’ has been dropped from the free-to-play game. No further details were given, however, for why this unexpected change was made. Especially, considering the fact that it’s been more than six months already since it was first launched.

During the COD Next event in September 2022, the focus on ‘2.0’ was heavily emphasized by the makers. They wanted the community to get it clear that the new Warzone was part of Activision’s new era of Call of Duty.

However, things haven’t turned out as expected for the battle royale. From gameplay issues to cheating and inevitable bugs, players have faced tons of problems in the successor to the original Warzone from 2020. Maybe removing the ‘2.0’ label from the latest entry might end up attracting more fans once again. Perhaps it must have been a thought behind making such a decision ahead of Season 4.
Maybe now players will be able to relate with the new Warzone, in the same way they resonated with the first one which is now known as Warzone Caldera.
