With the countdown to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 release, fans are raving abut Venom’s debut. It marks a new and exciting chapter in the superhero gaming world. The game is being hyped as possibly the biggest comic-inspired video game to date. Well, the association of legendary Tony Todd with Venom only helps to the pitch of the much-awaited sequel. 

Ever since Tony Todd was confirmed as the voice of Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, fans have been thrilled about the project. There couldn’t have been a better choice for voicing one of Spider-Man’s most iconic foes, and the early glimpses were enough to prove why. As the mystery around Venom has remained under the sheets for quite some time now, we have a credible source spill some beans on the character.

All webheads know Yuri Yowenthal the voice of Peter Parker in Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man franchise. In a interview, the actor revealed how the alien symbiote might mask the charm of both the superheroes featured in the game. Considering the likes of Peter Parker and Miles Morales, we can only assume how the symbiote could pull this off! 

Lowenthal implied that Tony Todd also plays an important role in shaping the character throughout the narrative.

Anybody who heard it immediately got excited, and having just worked with Tony on something else right before then, I also got excited because I would get to hang with Tony again. You know, contrary to the characters that he plays, generally, he is one of the kindest, most open, the coolest guys out there,” Lowenthal stated.

Adding to his admiration for the legendary actor, he said, “So, I got to look forward to that, as well. When you first meet Tony, you have to sort of get over what you know of all the characters he’s played and his whole career to sort of step past that, you know, just being intimidated stage when you first meet Tony”.

The Legacy of Tony Todd

When Yuri Lowenthal praises someone’s work, you know the work is special. It’s fascinating to know that the in-game protagonist-antagonist duo admire each other so much in real life. Apparently, the works of Todd deservingly account for the excitement built around his touch to Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. 

A few of the best characters he has voiced in games include some big-label titles. His video game roles includes Dr. Rogers from Back 4 Blood, Vortigaunts from the Half-Life Series, and Admiral Tommy Brings from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. The actor has also voiced Darkseid for various DC projects and Zoom in CW’s Flash.
