The much-awaited Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is taking the gaming world by storm. The new powers given to Link are the biggest improvement from its prequel. Fans are going into creative mode and attempting to create new inventions in this Zelda game.
But that’s not all the fans were doing. The main motive for playing a game is, obviously, to try to win every battle and complete the game. While some proficient players are there, who completed the game in record time, some fans might find it a bit hard to complete. Now the statistics for the average time taken to complete the game are out and it is surprisingly long for a base game.

While Tears of the Kingdom offers multiple boss fights and side quests, fans would still be interested to know how long will it take to complete the game. And the site dedicated to finding out just that, HowLongToBeat.com, has revealed this data.
It takes an average time of 48.5 hours to beat Tears of the Kingdom if you attempt only the main story. But if you want to attempt completing the game along with all it offers, it will take a whopping 96 hours to complete!

However, the data points out that currently, its playtime is lower than the prequel. Breath of the Wild has a main storyline of 50 hours and 188 hours for the complete game. But it should be noted this data for the earlier Zelda installment is after including two of its DLC packs.
If Tears of the Kingdom has 96 hours of gameplay currently, it surely would increase by a substantial margin when and if the DLC for the game arrives.
Fans say the average time is more than what is shown
The fans have started doubting the average time shown to complete the game. Many are stating they have invested a lot of time in the game and are still very far from completion.

bro im 40 hours in and only did 1 dungeon and revealed a quarter of th map wtf

Considering 96 hours ago was Thursday at midday for me, there's no way this time could have been calculated properly already since the games been out for like 80 hours or so

Ain't no way you can completionist it in 96 hours lol. I'm prob 40 in, and I don't even have half the underground map, and maybe only 20 or so of the 150 shrines (not to mention 400 caves). And I haven't even started the main objectives

I think 96 hours if you don’t duck around and only focus on collectibles and quests
