First-ever Harry Potter Video Game in 2001

Way back in 2001, Electronic Arts launched the very first Harry Potter video game, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, only two weeks after the release of the movie. The expectation was quite high for this game, considering the skyrocketing popularity of Harry Potter in movies and books.

We all know the story. Harry turns up at Hogwarts for the very first time to learn magic. Becomes best friends with Ron and Hermione to learn more about magic and his past. The movie was an instant hit back then, but what about the game?

Well, it was absolutely terrible. For some reason, the magical Wizarding world was filled with terribly distorted faces, glitches, and bugs. Interestingly, despite all the issues, the game still managed to become one of the biggest PlayStation hit back in 2001.

However, something worth noting here is that it was way back in 2001. That’s more than 2 decades ago and compared to today’s time, the technology looks so outdated. But it might have been good in 2001.
