Call of Duty recently teased the much-awaited Warzone map for 2023. Not to mention that the first look has increased battle royale fans’ curiosity even more. While previous rumors hint at Las Almas to be the next BR map, it seems like devs are planning something else in a mysterious way, to say the least. And now, it appears as if Urzikstan could be the main battlefield after all!
Talking about the new battle royale map itself, a lot has been said about how different and massive it could be. So far, nothing official has been confirmed on it but there are reports hinting towards an overhaul. Plus, it’s high time for Activision to make amends after delivering an experience like Warzone 2.0 (rebranded as Warzone now).
Urzikstan may be the new Warzone map in Call of Duty!

For the uninitiated, it’s a fictional country set in the lore of the Call of Duty series. Originally introduced in 2019’s rebooted Modern Warfare, it has become a significant part of the ongoing franchise narrative. It also appears in the current installment MWII. Not to mention that it will be there in the upcoming Modern Warfare III as well.
Now, the reason behind Urzikstan being the new Warzone map is pretty interesting. That’s because recent claims from several insiders indicate that previously speculated map Las Almas won’t be there in the next iteration of the battle royale at all.
Plus, the emergence of Urzikstan as the next BR map was possibly teased way back during the Verdansk nuke event. On the Tac Map, Urzikstan was clearly shown alongside the destroyed region. However, it didn’t get much attention back then, until now.

Now, it looks like the makers have been planning to include Urzikstan in Warzone for a very long time. Another crucial thing to note is that the Modern Warfare III Zombies map is also rumored to be set in this country. At least, that’s what fans believe going by the images revealed so far.
Hence, keeping the lore in the same region for both Warzone and Zombies will make more sense. Imagining Las Almas as the next map won’t actually fit into the narrative that much, compared to the setting of Urzikstan.
New Call of Duty Warzone map may or may not have AI at all
This is one annoying problem fans have had with the ongoing Warzone game. Ever since its release last November, most of the players have expressed their disappointment with the existence of artificial intelligence. While it can be considered okay in a mode like DMZ, Warzone is a different experience altogether.
A lot of users have complained that AI bots are too strong to tackle, alongside the battle royale nature of Warzone. Thus, the devs may completely eliminate them in the next Call of Duty BR. But that’s only if they really want to remove AI enemies at all.
Verdansk 2.0: The next Warzone map may feel like a return to the classic map from 2020, once again!
The makers had recently teased a specific image to give an idea about the new Warzone. Since then, the picture has spread across the internet while making many COD lovers believe that Verdansk 2.0 is on its way – somehow. For example, renowned Call of Duty player and YouTuber JGOD thinks that the new map is giving more Verdansk vibes than anything else.

New Warzone map is definitely putting off those Verdansk vibes.
Especially if you add water to the space between port and downtown on the right.

While comparing the new map with an image of Verdansk, JGOD explained that adding water to the space between the port and downtown on the right image will basically make it look similar to the new area. This means the layout of the next Warzone map may feel more like Verdansk in terms of its overall structure and open environment. Other players online have also expressed this sentiment after making deep observations.

However, it’s yet to be seen what kind of layout will be revealed when the COD Next event eventually takes place this week. All things considered, a change is likely on the cards for Warzone lovers. The only thing remaining to be witnessed is whether it will be Verdansk-esque or something even better than that.
