When Activision Blizzard originally unveiled Overwatch 2, the creators promised two PvE story modes alongside the game’s standard competitive modes. However, the long-awaited PvE mode would not be coming to the game now. This startling announcement was made in a developer live stream by game director Aaron Keller. The removal of the plans for the game mode has shocked many Overwatch fans, including the former Overwatch pro player xQc.
The former pro recently came across the transformation made by Overwatch developers. And this revelation led to him heavily criticizing the direction developers are taking Overwatch 2 in.

While streaming on May 17, xQc came across a post on Reddit. The post showed Overwatch developers declaring the scrapping of the PvE mode showcased in 2019. This announcement puzzled the streamer. “Wait then what is the plan then?” xQc asked confused, “What do they have?”
Speaking about the Overwatch sequel, xQc thinks the game is nowhere near developed like its predecessor. He stated Overwatch 2 is just three maps and one character. “Which is literally the same thing as their normal content roadmap for updates for the main game,” xQc said.
Furthermore, he went on to draw a line graph for his fans to understand the relation between updates and the timeline of updates for both Overwatch titles. Talking about the first Overwatch title, he stated that Blizzard released a new map or a new character every once in a while.
xQc believes Overwatch 2 is just Blizzard catching up on updates for its prequel
Still explaining his graph, xQc said that over time developers stopped releasing updates for the first Overwatch. “Overwatch 2 was just literally them catching up on all the missing updates,” claimed xQc. Furthermore, the former Overwatch pro player thinks the sequel is also following the same pattern as its predecessor.

Further stating his disappointment, xQc thought the studio was wasting their time if they are not working on PvE. “So if they are not working on PvE, and they are not doing anymore, then where is all the time spent then?” exclaimed xQc frustratedly.
