With the anticipated release of the latest Call of Duty installments in Modern Warfare II Warzone 2 last year, players also received various new features. Moreover, they also witnessed a total overhaul to how they enjoy the games in the franchise. Especially when it comes to making the seasonal progress. While trying to stick to the promise of delivering a new era for the series, now there exists a fresh Battle Pass system too. It was revealed back in 2022 during the time of Season 1’s debut.

The revamped Battle Pass format works more dynamically than what Call of Duty fans used to have in past entries. Now, they have got something called Battle Pass tokens. Using them, they can unlock any reward they want, as per their preference and strategy to progress through a given season. However, a recent announcement from the devs has left most of them highly upset.

In case anyone missed keeping track of events, the makers had revealed a full blog ahead of Season 2 to provide all the details of what to expect from the update. To reiterate certain changes once again, they mentioned them in separate tweets as well. One of them, posted a day ago, shared a massive change to how Battle Pass tokens will work going forward.

The tweet from Call of Duty shared the news that any unspent Battle Pass tokens players have earned so far will be spent automatically by the end of Season 1. “At the end of each season, any unspent Battle Token Tier Skips will be auto-spent on remaining Battle Pass rewards along a pre-set path to complete the Battle Map.”

As expected, this announcement ended up annoying a lot of players. Because it’s them who have either earned or paid for the tokens and the Battle Pass as well. But devs have decided on their behalf for how they should be spent in the game. Which is wrong, going by the reactions of most of the fans who have criticized the makers for taking continuously wrong decisions so far since the launch of Modern Warfare II.

Some of the users even mentioned that the decision of spending the remaining tokens should be left up to the players themselves. On the other hand, few users were simply furious to say the least. “Well done guys for making me hate my favourite franchise”, wrote one player on Twitter.
