Nintendo Switch has seen some real growth in the past couple of years, due to its immense popularity. With titles like Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing New Horizon being amongst the most sold games for the console, it seems that the Japanese giant might now be trying to bring back every game from previous consoles, but also add a gimmick to make future projects work even better.

According to a report by VGC, the Director of Nintendo Japan, Shigeru Miyamoto, has said that they are trying to make something new for the fans, and actually want to showcase some new games. Thus, it seems that they might be planning on bringing out a Next-Gen console.
Shigeru Miyamoto hints towards a new console that might allow Nintendo to showcase “unique video games”
The legendary console company has recently been under pressure from the fan base, as many of them are asking for something new and more mature than the feel-good type of games that Nintendo is currently selling. The concern seems to have reached Nintendo as they disclosed the idea of making a new console.
“Recently, however, the development environment has increasingly become more standardized. And we now have an environment that allows players to enjoy older video games on newer consoles more easily than ever before,” said Shigeru Miyamoto in a report by VGC.
“However, Nintendo’s strength is in creating new video game experiences, so when we release new hardware in the future, we would like to showcase unique video games that could not be created with pre-existing hardware,” concluded Miyamoto.
Why is the console giant trying to make something new?
But this was not it. The real question that arises now, is what the console giant might be trying to work on. For starters, Miyamoto says that they are trying to make consoles that have backward compatibility. This thus means that they might be trying to do something similar to PlayStation 5, which promised players to allow them to play old titles that were released for previous consoles.
Although it failed for PlayStation 5, the rumored upcoming Nintendo console might be able to complete the task. And if that happens, then Nintendo will be able to bring back every previous game that they have to a much stronger console than Switch, allowing them to develop games that need a powerful console.
