Ludwig, the host and organizer of the show, was put under a lot of heat after the match. This was because the community as well as the close ones of Andrea were criticizing the match-up for having an unfair result. The officials were compelled to rethink their decision, seeing the backlash.

The ChessBoxing 2022 tournament featured many renowned content creators in Boxing cards but there was spin. The fighters have to sit for a round of chess in-between rounds of boxing. It was one of the biggest tests of Brawn and Brain.
Among all the fights, one of the most interesting was the fight between Andrea Botez Vs Dina Belenkaya. The match-up was beyond thrilling. Andrea had the clear upper hand on Diana in Boxing where the latter was dominating the Chess Board.
Just before the last round of the match, Andrea had almost TKO’ed Diana, but the referee allowed the match to go on, and in the last round, Diana took the belt with a Checkmate victory over Andrea. The fans and critics criticized this decision by the referee.

On December 13, 2022, the officials behind ChessBoxing 2022 event Mogul Moves posted an official statement on Twitter. In the statement, they apologized for the outcome of the match. Fans were assured that a belt will be awarded to Andrea for beating Diana with a TKO. However, the verdict won’t be redacted as Diana will also hold her belt.
Ludwig expressed his side on the matter. He replied to the Mogul Moves’ tweet saying, “After talking to the officials we thought this was the best path forward. Impossible to rewind the clock but always best to do right when possible. Congrats to @itsandreabotez and @DinaBelenkaya!!”

Andrea wants a rematch!

But the story may not end here, as, in the post-match interview, Andrea had expressed that she really wants a rematch with Diana, and this time it will be all boxing and no chess.

This was the first fight for Botez, still, showed some phenomenal performance in the ring. And the fact that Diana is one of the World’s Grand Masters in chess, whereas Andrea is just a casual player, a fair all-boxing fight truly is deserved by the young Botez.
