Sony’s desire to beat Xbox and other consoles
On PlayStation’s 20th anniversary, Deering gave some behind-the-scenes moments from the company’s journey in the console industry. He mentioned that from the beginning they had a targeted audience for each console they developed. For PlayStation 2, Sony specially targeted the 17 years. Hence, the advertisements brought colorful images that are cool enough to attract youngsters. PlayStation 2 was launched with a DVD player for $299. It was one of the most efficient and cheapest consoles compared to the available ones in the market.
