Activision Blizzard’s deal with Microsoft is seeing some line of progression and satisfaction. But the same could not be stated for the former’s FPS Overwatch 2. The popular sequel was released with much anticipation, hoping to bring back the glory that Overwatch 1 set. Though we witnessed a massive opening weekend, the activity slowly died off as days passed.
But, players still had high hopes for Overwatch 2. More additions were promised during the 2019 BlizzCon, which fans were eagerly waiting for. But recent official updates have put a nail on that 4-year wait.

The developers had skyrocketed hopes for Overwatch 2. With new heroes and an upgraded system, the revamped FPS title was expected to outshine its competition. But the title sort of fell short. Though this decline was not given much attention by the community, as Overwatch 2 had more in store for them.
Fast forward to 2022, Overwatch 2 finally got released but only with PvP (Player vs Player) mode. Apparently, they had to shift the PvE and other promised mechanisms to a later date. But now the studio has decided to scrap the entire thing. Aaron Keller, the Game Director, and Jared Neuss, the Executive Producer of Overwatch 2 released a statement that indicated the scrapping of the much-anticipated mode.

Story missions, new cinematics, co-op events, single-player mastery missions, and more are offered by the game in their future road map. But we cannot be sure at the moment whether these themselves would be sufficient to satisfy the broken heart of the fans. A lot of hype that Overwatch 2 received was due to the fact that the title had PvE, and its scrapping might set Blizzard a bit back in terms of player satisfaction.
