Before ever becoming a part of Amazon’s family of products, Twitch started off as Justin.tv with a few streamers and a small audience. It was the hard work of veterans like Marcus Graham aka djWHEAT that helped the platform. The streamer started his career with Justin.tv, which was later renamed Twitch. He religiously streamed games like StarCraft and also played Quake 3 professionally.

The 44-year-old streamer was a part of Twitch’s staff for nearly ten years and has been serving the community as Head of Twitch Community Productions. He is also a passionate and talented musician who often spins the deck on the stream for his audience to jive along with.

djWHEAT shared an emotional message on his final day with Twitch

Graham has dedicated the major portion of his life to building the Esports community, especially the purple platform. In his time with the platform, Graham has helped resolve many issues and community drama, while keeping a close eye on the community’s health. He’s stated that gaming and streaming were his passion, and he woke every day with a single thought: serve the community.

“The biggest thank you that I have is probably to the Twitch Community. Creators, mods, fans, thank you for putting your faith and trust in me. I know I didn’t always get the results that you wanted, but I hope you know that I fought for creators until the very end with every ounce of might and passion that I have. And I am still going to keep doing that but you are the reason why I worked at Twitch for 10 years.

“You are the reason why I woke in the morning, and you are the reason why I would stand up in the meeting and I would start yelling because that’s how much the community meant to me.”

Yet another key member of the platform and community has left the Amazon-owned live streaming platform. In 2021, the platform lost major names like DrLupo, TimTheTatman, and Ludwig to rival YouTube Gaming. Now, even 2022 has started off on the wrong foot which could lead to more hurdles that won’t be so easy to resolve without djWHEAT.
