The company once decided to make a product for the schools of Japan in order to help the kids in the classroom learn things in a better way. Sadly, though, this strategy of Nintendo didn’t work out at all. On top of it, the product itself failed miserably, to say the least.

More than a decade ago, in 2009, the company made an announcement of partnering with Sharp System Products. The objective was to make a Nintendo DSi for using it in Japanese schools for students in elementary schools, junior high schools, and even high schools. It was simply codenamed the DS Classroom.
Nintendo DS Classroom was intended to be used by the teachers on their PC in order to communicate with other DS devices with a DS Classroom cartridge. It was also possible to make the connection between other DSi devices and a classroom app called DSiWare.

However, after making a debut in 2009’s New Education Expo, Nintendo decided to make the Classroom application exclusive to just the DSi. Simply put, the schools returned the DS Classroom units back to the Mario maker. The experiment failed completely without making any impact.

Since the failure of the device, the manufacturer has hardly introduced a product with a purpose other than gaming. Meanwhile, currently, it’s focusing on bringing the next wave of exclusives to the Switch console. Fans will soon witness the launch of awaited titles like Mario+Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, Bayonetta 3, and also Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
