On January 17, 2023, a group of five masked men stole $10,000 worth of Nintendo Switch consoles from a Windsor city store. According to the Windsor Star, the crime took place on the night of Jan 17, when the gang took over a Walmart Supercentre at 3120 Dougall Ave. And well, this turned out to be the second heist of the day as the gang was suspected of another sometime back.

The Windsor police claimed that four out of the five suspects engaged in distracting the employees and customers while the remaining one completed the job. Apparently, he broke down the locks of the display doors in the electronics section, getting out the consoles, piece by piece. And while they completed the job, the value of the stolen items went so high that police claimed a $10,000 heist.

Gang of five stuns the gaming world by stealing a cart full of Nintendo Switch consoles

It is not a secret that gaming console prices have surged in recent times. I mean, Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch all cost around $400 – 500 apiece. But, that does not mean you go on a heist to own it, as the right way is just to buy one.

However, that wasn’t the case for these five masked men who decided to go on a Switch heist. According to the police, the group walked in, stole the items, and ran off in two separate vehicles. One being ‘a dark-colored truck and the other a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Dodge Journey.’

Apparently, the Nintendo Switch heist wasn’t the only crime the group committed, as the authorities accused them of another one. Sadly, the group was seen at a nearby Home Depot located at 1925 Division Rd, where they stole tools worth $5,000. Quite sad, right? Well, it is much more surprising that the crime was committed on the same night as the Walmart store.

As of now, it is unclear whether they have been caught as police are investigating the matter. However, they have urged the community to call 519-255-6700 ext. 4350 if there is any information.
