Insomniac Games once again stole everyone’s attention with their latest game. Spider-Man 2 is no doubt one of the best-looking and best-playing games on the platform as of yet. The console is looking at several new games in the coming years, and at least two of them will be developed by Insomniac – Wolverine, and Spider-Man 3.

Undoubtedly, there would be a DLC for Spider-Man 2, and it might end up laying the groundwork for something very interesting. It might start establishing Miles Morales as the main focus of the series going forward. While some fans are happy with this decision, others cannot help but wonder: is it a good decision?

Would the decision to make Miles Morales the main guy in Spider-Man 3 pay off?

Peter Parker is no doubt an icon. When someone says Spider-Man, two things are revolving in their heads, Peter Parker and that tray scene from the very first Spider-Man movie starring Tobey Maguire That is why, no matter what direction a game might take later, it starts with Peter Parker. Insomniac Games, too, started their journey with legendary voice actor Yuri Lowenthal playing this role.

Yet, many consider Miles Morales to be a more fun alternative to Peter Parker. I’m not saying Spider-Man 2018 was not a fun game; it was just that Miles Morales was somewhat better. Portraying him as a more homely guy looking for his own identity in a world where there’s already a Spider-Man solving people’s problems. Hence, Insomniac Games’ decision to make him the driving force of their upcoming games might make sense. He is actually in dire need of a full-fledged game. Let’s not forget that Spider-Man 2018 sold around 20 million copies in its lifetime, while Miles Morales sold close to 13 million, despite being just an expansion. Which is a big deal; it almost touched the numbers of a full-fledged game.

If players remember the after-credits scene in Spider-Man 2, there were at least two new supervillains in the making. And both know who Spider-Man is; no doubt they would be coming after Peter in the third installment, and that’s where Insomniac might end his story. They have already hinted at Peter’s upcoming retirement in Spider-Man 2.

One thing fans are hoping for is to not see Peter Parker killed off. They would rather see him become a secondary character, and that would be a better way of doing things too. But it’s all about how Insomniac wants to do stuff; they are hardly wrong in their decisions anyway.

Would Wolverine end up being part of their universe?

Insomniac Games’ next full game would no doubt be the much-awaited Wolverine. It was announced very close to Spider-Man 2 itself; hence, fans are expecting it to launch sometime in 2024. It is said to be a more mature game, featuring all those bloody executions and kills Wolverine is so well known for.

One cannot help but wonder if Insomniac would try and pull MCU with their games and bring Spider-Man and Wolverine together. There’s a massive possibility of this happening, given the fact that Spider-Man 2’s director is already teasing Daredevil about appearing in Spider-Man 2 in some way.
